Reunion
We’re only here to check the rest of them never amounted to anything.
“So here we all are – the last surviving cockroaches of Ardrossan Academy, class of 1993. The only things that survived the nuclear fallout of turning 30. The only cretins that would turn up in this shit-hole and pretend it sounded like fun. Every last one of us working spin on our own lives: Happily married – shorthand for no sex life left. 2 lovely children – 2 burst condoms. Drives an Audi – works in a car showroom. If our lives were so amazing we wouldn’t be sitting here on a Friday night, reminiscing about chips & cheese that we bought 15 years ago from the school canteen”
Welcome to the world of Reunion. Reunion is an original script idea by Johnny McKnight that explores the idea of growing up and realising that the original ‘teen-dream’ might never be fulfilled. It looks at the glorious expectations of the teenage years through the sad-eyed, touché-eclait wearing thirty something.
Reunion is currently in script development, with hope of staging in 2008. Supported by Scottish Arts Council.
